I don’t understand the Confederate flag worship in our area. There are a couple reasons for that.
For one, what about the Confederacy do these people support, slavery? Segregation? Lynching? Believe it or not, these are some of the things “the south” believed in. If your argument is “that’s not what it was about” you are ignorant at best, or just downright stupid. Slavery is why we fought the civil war, no matter how you justify it in your head. I’ve heard all the arguments justifying this, but none of them hold any water. One I hear a lot is “it wasn’t about slavery, it was about state’s rights.” Yeah, I guess. Because the federal government told them they couldn’t own SLAVES anymore. Another argument I hear a lot is the economy. Again, because the south was afraid their economy would collapse without free SLAVE labor. So, stop with this BS argument, it doesn’t make you look “more American” or whatever you are trying to accomplish. Really what you are telling the world is you are okay with a little slavery and racism, as long as you can do what you want. That’s selfish and completely ridiculous. You’re not that important.
Second, do these jackasses know where they live? This is the NORTH. You almost can’t get any further north. Do you think anyone in the south gives a damn what you think? If they support this, that means they supported the Confederate army. Which makes you a TRAITOR to them. Maybe you should just move there, and leave us the hell alone. Also, fun history fact for you: Minnesota and Wisconsin were part of a territory called “The Northwest Territory,” which banned slavery almost 50 YEARS before the civil war. The confederacy has never had a hold here, and never even made it this far north.
So, in short, if you drive around with a confederate flag or wave it around like an asshole, you’re an idiot. The south is never going to rise again, you are not some warrior for a cause that anyone respects. And those of you out there who read this and get angry, maybe you should elope to Kentucky with your cousin and leave us alone in THE NORTH. You’re not needed here, and we probably wouldn’t even notice if you left.
